Julia has been working with my daughter for 5 years. Prior to working with Julia my daughter was a non-reader entering middle school, needing explicit phonological awareness and phonics instruction. Julia is an incredible teacher. She is very passionate about her work and exceptionally patient when delivering instruction. My daughter continues to make gains each year with her reading and writing. Our experience has been extremely positive. Julia is someone my daughter can relate to not only academically, but socially and emotionally. Julia validates my daughter’s feelings about school and has helped build confidence, advocating skills, problem solving skills as well as designs lessons that are explicit, sequential, to the individual child’s needs. Julia’s communication with myself and our school district is outstanding. Julia’s craft in her work and delivery is exceptional. She is highly recommended.

Julia has been such a positive influence on my son and his education. She is patient and kind - allowing room for his moods and feelings. I learned a lot from her explanations of comprehension and the OG method. Additionally she was a favorite of my son’s teachers - his IEP educator said “Julia is the best tutor I’ve worked with.” Five out of five stars!

“My 7 year old began working with Julia in the middle of the pandemic and school closures. They have been working together for 8 months and her guidance and help have been invaluable. My daughter loves her class. She is keenly aware she can put words and sounds together because of the work she is doing with Julia. I wholeheartedly recommend Julia based on her approach to a child’s needs, her planning of tailored lessons, and the kindness and care she brings to her student-teacher interaction. She is a gem.”

“Kristen is able to convey learning material easily, it was fun. She is patient and makes you feel comfortable right away. I learned the skill of breaking down words into smaller words to be able to pronounce them. My vowels improved. She is a very good teacher.”

“As a Co-Director of a Manhattan-based special education school for over 20 years, I worked with many teachers throughout my tenure. Kristen was one of the very special ones. She is extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, creative, hard-working and passionate. Any child that worked with Kristen was a lucky child indeed.”
